RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY

  • Monitoring neuronal activity during behaviour

The M-Lab employs viral and genetic tools to study calcium dynamics in behaving mice while they perform instinctive or learning tasks. They investigate whether defined neuronal populations restricted to specific circuit connectivity, undergo change in their activity to support approach or avoidance behaviours.

  • Model instinctive and learned behaviours

The M-Lab utilises mice for modelling instinctive and learned behaviours. They focus on investigating the generation of approaching or aversive behaviours, such as parenting, and complement their research by recording neuronal activity using miniaturised or 2-photon microscopy and synaptic physiology in acute brain slices.
