Christel Schäfer obtained her MD from the University of Lausanne. During her Medical Master thesis, she investigated cortico-spinal circuits involved in physical and rehabilitation medicine in the laboratories of Prof. Place and Prof. Gremeaux. For her MD-PhD, she joined the Neukomm lab aiming to gain insights into neurodegeneration triggered by impaired synapses in Drosophila.
