Luca Masin joins the lab as a PostDoc

Luca obtained his MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Bologna. He then moved to KU Leuven to pursue a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lieve Moons. During his doctoral research, he developed an in vitro microfluidic culture system for murine retinal neurons, which he used to investigate injury-induced axonal regeneration and the molecular and metabolic mechanisms that support it. As a postdoctoral researcher in the Moons lab, he then expanded this work to explore evolutionarily conserved mechanisms of axonal regeneration across both mammalian and fish models. Luca joined the Neukomm lab as an SNSF-funded PostDoc to focus on neuronal NAD⁺ metabolism in Drosophila.
