Master student
Julien Vujevic Martinez obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Strasbourg, during which he participated in an international exchange program in Montreal. There, he joined James Omichinski’s laboratory, where he conducted an in-depth study of the mechanisms of the SARS-CoV 2 N protein. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), completing his first-semester project in Maria Cristina Gabetta’s lab. His work focused on developing reporter plasmid-based assays to evaluate enhancer-blocking insulator elements in human cells. In 2025, Julien joined Claudia Kathe’s laboratory for his Master’s thesis, where he is developing and applying RNA-sensing systems, a modular strategy enabling targeted actuator expression for translational gene therapy in defined neuronal subpopulations.
