Toko Kikuchi
Post-doctoral fellow

Toko holds an MEng in General Engineering from École Centrale de Lyon, France, and a joint MSc in Molecular Biology from Keio University, Japan, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. She then completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Volterra at the University of Lausanne, focusing on astrocyte physiology and their modulatory role in neuronal network dynamics during high-vigilance states. Following her doctoral work, she joined the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering, Geneva, as a research scientist, bringing expertise in miniature endoscopy in vivo imaging combined with cognitive tasks, particularly in the context of Alzheimer’s disease models. Toko’s research collaboration in the Mameli lab aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which population astrocytes shape neuronal firing patterns and memory-related processes. Her work integrates advanced in vivo imaging, behavioral neuroscience, and circuit-level analysis to uncover the astrocytic contributions to cognitive function.
